Raphaela is the Director of the foundation’s programs on migration and immigration society.  Her work and expertise cover a broad spectrum of integration and migration policies in Germany, Europe, and globally – from racism and discrimination to integration and participation, to the future of the protection of refugees and migrants, climate mobility, the relationship between technological change and migration, as well as issues of global governance.
Since joining the Foundation in 2015, she held several roles and has developed numerous programs on migration and inclusion, issues she has also published widely on. Currently, she serves as the European Philanthropic Initiative on Migration (EPIM) and is a 2023 Yale World Fellow. Raphaela holds a doctorate (Dr. phil.) from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and studied political science, law, as well as peace and conflict studies in Munich, Frankfurt am Main and Madrid.
