During the Covid-19 pandemic, the public became aware of the fundamental importance of care work for the economy and society. It became clear that many economic activities could be scaled back; but this was not the case for the dedicated and reliable care provided by care providers and relatives. However, no political consequences were drawn from the pandemic. Care work still takes place under precarious working conditions, is unpaid or underpaid and is predominantly carried out by women. Numerous initiatives in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH) are already using various action formats to make care work more visible. our Partner Wirtschaft ist Care e.V. (Economy is Care) sees itself as part of the global movement for a care-centered economy. The organization supports this movement through networking and public relations work as well as its own projects. The project focuses on presenting and recognizing the care movement in the DACH region as an important player in the socio-ecological transformation.
