In Brief

About the project

We are living in an age of digital change. Our lives are led and determined by digitality tools on a daily basis. This makes it even more important to draw attention to existing problems that lead to social hierarchization and discrimination against marginalized groups.

The Digital Freedom Fund campaigns against the threat to fundamental rights in the digital sphere. The aim is to ensure that society is granted the same basic rights both offline and online. DFF supports strategic litigation to advance digital rights in Europe, provides financial support and seeks to catalyse collaboration between digital rights activists.

In collaboration with European Digital Rights (EDRi) and many other participants, including activists, tech experts, researchers and foundations, DFF has launched a new initiative in a participatory process that deals with the power dynamics, exclusion and privileges in the digital field.

DFF also uses strategic litigation to achieve its goals. A virtual DFF "law clinic" was founded as a result of the initiative. Experts can support companies in an advisory capacity to help them prevail in legal disputes in the area of digital rights. The organization also organizes thematic workshops focusing one a specific aspect with the overarching goal to create digital solidarity and tackle inequality. Experts from different fields will present strategies that break down oppressive dynamics.
