About the program

The funding program “Building Power for Economic Justice” by the Robert Bosch Stiftung aims to support organizations that work to tackle structural economic injustices led by those who have lived experiences of economic inequality. The program recognizes that achieving meaningful social change requires empowering those most affected by economic injustice to lead systemic change efforts. It specifically focuses on supporting self-organizing and self-representation of marginalized groups, believing that sustainable solutions to inequality must include people with lived experience of these challenges. By investing in collective power-building strategies, the program works to tackle interconnected issues across care work, technology, and wealth distribution while acknowledging the role of multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination. Ultimately, the program seeks to create more just economic systems that enable human dignity within planetary boundaries. As part of the program eight organizations receive support.

Why are we running this program?

The unequal distribution of income and wealth is one of the greatest challenges of our time. Money, opportunities, and resources are distributed unfairly in our societies, which is evident in many areas of life. This injustice continues to grow in many places. Unfair structures make it difficult for many people to lead a good life. People who are marginalized in multiple ways are particularly affected.

What is the goal?

Our goal is to contribute to a world in which all people have the opportunity to lead a good life, be heard, and participate in society, politics, and the economy—regardless of their background or life situation. That is why we support people and organizations that are committed to fair economic structures. We are convinced that people who have experienced economic inequality must be involved in such change processes. Their experiences and ideas are crucial to finding effective solutions.

How does the project work?

The application process is now closed. The funding decisions were made together with a jury of experts on economic justice, including experts with personal experience of inequality. They selected organizations, which will receive funding for up to three years.
