We cooperate with these five organizations to tackle cross-border and cross-ethnic problems such as climate change or migration on the local level.

ACT

Environmental issues constitute one of the biggest challenges the Balkan region is currently facing. However, in the eyes of the ACT Foundation from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, they also rekindle hope that when people from all sides and segments unite, they can make a difference and contribute to the development of their communities. Therefore, in tackling environmental issues, the ACT Foundation also seeks to transform and empower society in Bosnia and Herzegovina and counter systemic and social injustice. ACT recognizes the power of active citizenship, art, culture, and journalism in inspiring social change and aims to strengthen the collaboration between these sectors, and seeks to raise awareness about environmental issues and to empower communities by involving them in decision-making processes.

Green Team

Green Team, based in Novi Grad in the Republika Srpska, one of the two entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, was formed to address cross-border environmental issues between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Thereby, the organisation seeks to highlight voices that rarely get heard in environmental discourses. Through the inclusion of a variety of views, such as those of war veterans and religious leaders, they present environmental problems as an issue of concern to all sectors of society. Green Team is utilizing the support to strengthen its administrative processes, consolidate, and coordinate exchanges with partner organisations, and organise further events on environmental issues.

KRAK

Bihać, a city in Bosnia and Herzegovina bordering Croatia, is challenged by the clash of nationalist Bosnians and parts of society influenced by the European idea as well as migration influx from conflict ridden countries in the so-called Global South. With the project “Curating the periphery”, the KRAK Center for Contemporary Culture aims to prevent and overcome the traumas of war and migration through intercultural dialogue and art. KRAK works on a program that fosters cultural collaboration among citizens locally and regionally, offering networking opportunities to all generations in the area. The programme promotes social change and community development through visual arts exhibitions and collaborations between artists, activists, architects, urbanists and other practitioners in the region.

CIM

Centar za izgradnju mira (CIM) from Sanski Most seeks to rebuild trust and foster reconciliation among the people of Bosnia and Herzegowina to also enhance cooperation between different ethnic communities and between different organizations in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Thereby CIM tackles three different aspects: peacebuilding activism in Bosnia and Herzegovina, regional networking along the border between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia and organizational sustainability. The organization plans to offer a safe space for dialogue and peacebuilding activities such as a socially engaged theater or a volunteer’s club in an area that suffers from radicalization and hate speech – located close to the border with the Republika Srpska.
