Who is Robert Bosch Stiftung?

The Robert Bosch Stiftung is one of the largest foundations in Europe. We work in the areas of health, education, and global issues. These include climate change, democracy, migration, and peace.

Through our funding, we support projects that improve people’s lives and strengthen social cohesion. Our goal is to help create a fair and sustainable future. As a non-profit and non-partisan foundation, we work towards a world where people can live with dignity, peace, and freedom.

The foundation was established by Robert Bosch, the founder of the Bosch Group. Although we are closely connected to the company, we make our own decisions and work independently. Around 170 employees work for the foundation in Stuttgart and Berlin.

What we do

We support projects run by our partners. We also develop our own funding programs. To do this, we work with people and organizations from government, academia, and civil society.

We support projects in different ways:

* through funding
* through expertise
* through contacts and networks

Together, we look for solutions to important challenges facing society.

Funding

The foundation supports organizations, associations, and projects with ideas that benefit society. You can find more information in the “Funding” section of our website.

Our Topics

Together with our partners, we work in the fields of health, education, and global issues. We support projects, develop our own programs, and run institutions such as the Bosch Health Campus and the Robert Bosch Academy. Our work takes place in Germany, across Europe, in Ukraine, West Africa, and West Asia.

Health

We work to improve healthcare and put people at the center of the health system.

Our main platform for this work is the Bosch Health Campus. It brings together patient care, research, education, and funding.

Education

We promote equal opportunities in education. We support early childhood education centers and schools in Germany.

Our projects include the German School Award, the German School Barometer, and the German School Portal.

Globale Issues

We support people and organizations in finding answers to important challenges of our time. These include climate change, migration, democracy, and peace.

Ukraine

We support people and organizations in Ukraine as they rebuild their country. We also help them remain strong and able to act in difficult times.

History and Funding

The Robert Bosch Foundation goes back to Robert Bosch. He was an entrepreneur and founded the Bosch Group. He believed that businesses should also contribute to society and help improve people’s lives.

In his will, he stated that part of the profits from his company should benefit society. Based on this idea, the Robert Bosch Foundation was established in 1964.

Today, the foundation holds the majority of shares in Robert Bosch GmbH. Part of the company’s profits finances the foundation’s work.

The foundation is not a business. It is a non-profit organization and makes independent decisions about its projects and funding.
