About the fellowship

The Richard von Weizsäcker Fellowship is a program of the Robert Bosch Academy. With its Richard von Weizsäcker Fellowship the Robert Bosch Academy offers outstanding personalities from over the world a residency of several months in Berlin. The highly individualized stays offer the Richard von Weizsäcker Fellows the intellectual freedom to deal with a variety of topics and issues beyond their regular duties and obligations. To foster dialogue among the Fellows and with the German and international public, the Robert Bosch Academy organizes numerous activities tailored to the background and interests of the respective Fellow. By engaging with the Fellows, German experts and decision-makers gain new perspectives on major social and political issues; in turn, Fellows expand their networks and enrich their expertise with insights in German and European policy debates and decision-making processes.

Why do we award fellowships?

With the Richard von Weizsäcker Fellowship, the Robert Bosch Academy enables outstanding personalities from all over the world to spend time in Berlin. The highly individualized residencies offer fellows the intellectual freedom to explore a wide range of topics and issues beyond their regular duties and obligations. Fellows share a common interest in getting to know Berlin and Germany better during their residencies. Through an extensive social program, the Robert Bosch Academy introduces them to Germany's historical, political, and social characteristics, creating a close-knit international community.

How does the fellowship work?

In order to promote the exchange between the fellows and the German and international political community, the Robert Bosch Academy coordinates a customized and comprehensive program of lectures and events for its fellows. In dialog with the Fellows, German decision-makers and experts gain new perspectives on socio-political challenges. The fellows use the insights they gain into German and European decision-making processes in their work and expand their networks.
