Borderless Climate Neutrality

Originally, the goal in Ralingen (DE) and Rosport-Mompach (LU) was to create a cross-border energy region where electricity could be produced and consumed locally — independent of fossil fuels and external suppliers. But as the Common Ground project progressed, it became clear: local needs go far beyond energy.
The region therefore expanded its original plan in close collaboration with local residents. Through energy walks and a future workshop, citizens on both sides of the border were invited to share their ideas on how the region could move forward in terms of environment, energy, and climate neutrality. From joint tree-planting campaigns to public information evenings on flood protection, numerous initiatives and impulses emerged. These were brought together in a guiding vision for the border region.
