Europe and Germany 2035

What will it take for Europe and Germany to thrive in a world shaped by shifting geopolitical power, growing technological dependencies and an economic model that is reaching its limits?

The study Europa und Deutschland 2035 (Webseitenlayout) explores how the decisions made today could determine whether Europe falls behind economically and technologically, becomes increasingly dependent on other global powers, or succeeds in fundamentally renewing itself.

Drawing on 27 in-depth interviews, two rounds of a Delphi survey and further expert dialogues, Themis Foresight develops five distinct perspectives on Europe and Germany in 2035. They range from gradual economic and political decline to different paths of renewal and the potential fragmentation of the EU. Rather than predicting the future, the scenarios shed light on the close links between economic and technological strength, political agency and the preservation of a free and pluralistic society. Above all, they show how the choices we make today can shape the Europe of tomorrow. (Text in German)
