Regenerative Organizational Development Support for Ukrainian Civil Society
About the project
Ukrainian civil society organisations play a vital role in responding to the war and shaping the country's future. Yet years of sustained pressure have stretched their people, resources and ability to plan ahead. Project funding alone cannot address these challenges.
Together with ODeSA (Organizational Development Support Agency) and the PeaceNexus Foundation, we aim to advance regenerative organizational development (ROD): a trauma-aware, human-centred approach that combines strategic and structural change with care for people and relationships. Rather than starting with perceived capacity gaps, it starts with each organisation's ambitions, strengths and readiness for change.
Participating organisations receive flexible funding and tailored accompaniment to navigate change on their own terms. Alongside this work, the programme strengthens Ukrainian organisational development practitioners and offers opportunities for peer learning. Research, exchange and advocacy bring lessons from Ukraine into dialogue with funders and support organisations, encouraging longer-term, trust-based approaches.
Our ambition is both practical and systemic: to help civil society organisations remain effective, adapt and regenerate amid war, while changing how they are supported.
“Project funding remains an important part of our work. But our experience has shown that achieving lasting impact in Ukraine also means strengthening the organizations that help sustain the country.”
