Living well together. Issues and Perspectives of Muslim Engagement and Co-operation in Bavaria

Program brochures

The new publication of the Islamic Advisory Service in Bavaria describes a variety of areas of Muslim involvement in cooperation with local actors. Although Muslim involvement is present in Bavaria, it is often not visible. The booklet highlights opportunities for action and examples of good practice in the fields of youth work, adult education, social services, pastoral care and burial culture. The practical guide is aimed at local actors from politics, administration and welfare organisations as well as religious and cultural initiatives who are committed to shaping a peaceful society.

Factsheet: More than a roof over your head

2023

Municipal actors play a central role in the integration of newly arrived migrants. For instance, they are often the ones responsible for the initial care for refugees in communal arrival centres or in other accommodations. Through involvement in municipal housing companies, they also have a presence on the local housing market. In addition, municipal authorities also have a large number of other tools at their disposal to promote the integration of newly arrived migrants. This document is a factsheet on the expert brief "More than a roof over your head - Housing for newly arrived migrants in rural areas".

Summary: Two worlds? Integration policy in urban and rural areas

Books and studies
2020

The study "Zwei Welten? Integrationspolitik in Stadt und Land" [Two worlds? Integration policy in urban and rural areas], published in 2020, investigates the municipal integration policy of 92 municipalities selected according to defined criteria in twelve German federal states (23 independent cities, 24 districts and 45 municipalities belonging to a certain district). The focus of the study is on the questions: what was the strategic response of municipalities to the increased migration in the years 2015/16 and how sustainable are the established structures? Furthermore, the study also examines the relationships between the different municipalities as well as between the municipalities and other political levels. This document is the summary of the study.
